what we do

Developmental Educators are one of the newest allied health professions in the disability field, but are one of the most diverse. They often work with other professionals to provide a comprehensive level of support for individuals. Developmental educators have the skills and training to work with individuals with a disability or different ability and their support network to help them live as independently as possible and active members of their community. This may be done either in direct therapy sessions with the individual, information gathering and observations of the individual, and skill development and training for the individual’s support network. Sessions may take place in a variety of locations, such as at my office, your education settings, your home, or in local community settings.

who we are

Beginning her career as an English as a Second Language teacher, Hafwen taught children and adults in schools overseas for 8 years. After returning to Australia, she undertook a Graduate Diploma in Education (Adult, Vocational and Workplace Learning) and a Master in Arts (Applied Linguistics). Seeking to further assist those with different needs, Hafwen then began working in schools (special schools and special education units) with individuals with disabilities. Since completing a Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies, she has also been delivering social skills programs to children and teens. Recently Hafwen completed a Master in Autism Studies, became a member of Developmental Educators Australia Inc, and is now a NDIA registered service provider.
