LEGO & social EMOTIONAL SKILLS

LEGO®-Based Therapy works on sharing, turn-taking and following social rules. Participants have the opportunity to be the engineer, parts supplier and builder. LEGO is used with a social skill program to target personal development, competence and social effectiveness in a four-part training approach – modelling, roleplaying, performance feedback, and generalisation.

Train conversations & SOCIAL SKILLS

  • RELATIONSHIP SKILLS PROGRAM

This program helps children with some basic conventions of conversations. Trains and railroads provide metaphors for elements of conversations, while skill generalisation is promoted through the use of train concepts and language. Trains are used with a social skill program to target personal development, competence and social effectiveness in a four-part training approach – modelling, roleplaying, performance feedback, and generalisation.

Computer brains & SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILLS

Understanding what others see, hear and remember can be challenging and what others think can be confusing. Computer memory and the Internet are used as metaphors to show how minds take in certain information, store it and then pass it on to others.   • Need own laptop computers

Table games & SOCIAL SKILLS

Games are non-competitive and therapeutic as a way of teaching social skills. They are played with a social skill program to target personal development, competence and social effectiveness in a four-part training approach – modelling, roleplaying, performance feedback, and generalisation.

THE ZONES OF REGULATION

The Zones of Regulation program provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of and independent in controlling their emotions and impulses, manage their sensory needs, and improve their ability to problem solve conflicts.
